I used to hate painting with acrylic. It was unfamiliar to me, and I didn’t understand how to use it to get the full effect. I was used to watercolor, or pencils, even pastels.

The pigmentation you can get with acrylics is brighter and thicker than most paints I’ve worked with. Recent years have drawn me to more artificial colors - neon pinks, bright greens and oranges, even some bright yellows and blues.

As I struggle with my ability to be seen, it seems I wanted my art to be seen for me - bright, expressive, and emotionally fixated on an intense feelings of loneliness.
