Professional Summary

Monica Malone has been training since she was just three years old at her mother’s small-town dance studio. She fell in love with telling a story through the art of dance when she was around 14 years old. Since then she has loved to choreograph to every type of genre she can if she is able to tell an entertaining story. Monica attended Sam Houston State University where she was able to study with Greg Graham, Kiira Schmidt-Carper, and Kyle Craig-Bogard. After graduating with a BFA in Musical Theatre and an emphasis in dance, she has continued her love of performing and choreographing throughout the professional world.  She is proud to be a body positive activist and fully believes that everyone can dance at any age or size with or without training; they just need to find their groove and Monica is more than willing to groove with them until it is found.

Work History

Choreographer July – Aug 2021

Legally Blonde the Musical – Woodstock Arts (formerly Elm Street Arts), Woodstock, GA

Kristin Storla and I worked together to create a seamless Broadway show in small town Georgia. Focusing on encouraging confidence in the performers instead of perfection helped create an energetic, fun, and dynamic show with a minimal set and intricate choreography.

Choreographer June 2019

Working: A Musical - Out of Box Theatre, Marietta, GA

Under the direction of Kristin Storla, we created a heartfelt show exploring the working class in America. I designed the choreography to be accessible and exaggerate everyday working movements based of the jobs described in each song.

Choreographer and Director Oct – Nov 2018

Nunsense – Campbell High School, Smyrna, GA

Worked with the students involved to put together their first full musical in five years. The show was double cast and often it was necessary to work around students’ schedules but ultimately helped teach them about the professional performing world.

Choreographer and Camp Director June and July 2018

Various Mini Shows – Forefront Arts, Atlanta, GA

For 8 weeks, each week was a different 30 minute to 60-minute show for the kids’ performance. The size and experience of the casts varied, and adjustments had to made throughout each week. Performances were only one show at the end of each week for family and friends of the kids involved.

Choreographer April and May 2017

13 the Musical – Inspiration Stage, Sugarland, TX

Choreographed every song in the show for the teenagers involved. Included bits of improv for them to start to explore their own creativity and help find the joy in dance.
